Motorola ColorNotes Brings the Power of Visual Communication to Mobile Phones Through Animated Text Messaging

Motorola Logo

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced at 3G World Congress & Exhibition
2005 the global release of the Motorola ColorNotes Solution which transforms
traditional messaging by allowing mobile subscribers to express their
emotions. The innovative messaging service developed for CDMA and GSM networks
converts traditional voice or short messages (SMS) to multimedia messages
(MMS) that incorporate animated graphics and audio. Motorola ColorNotes also
enables users to receive broadcast messages, such as news clips, stock quotes,
horoscopes, jokes and more delivered by their favorite animated character.

ith Motorola ColorNotes, animated characters take the words right out of
consumers' mouths. Subscribers are able to choose from a library of
characters, including celebrities, cartoon characters and animated objects
offered by the operator to deliver their messages. Motorola ColorNotes
subscribers also have the ability to select from nine different emotions that
the character will portray when delivering the message. When the recipient
retrieves the MMS, they view the animated character and hear the sender's
message.

Marketing the service under the name "Voice MMS," ZMCC, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of China Mobile, is the first operator to launch Motorola
ColorNotes Service. Over a six-week introductory period, ZMCC was able to
attract 25,000 subscribers to the "Voice MMS" Service. With deployments in
three provinces and four trials underway, parent company China Mobile plans to
continue to leverage the success of the service across additional markets.

"Our subscribers are extremely enthusiastic about Motorola
ColorNotes/Voice MMS because the service lets users add personality to their
messages in a unique and creative way," said Mr. Shen Gangwei, general manager
of ZMCC's Data Department. "As the first to deploy Motorola ColorNotes
Service, ZMCC is leading a new trend in personalized mobile messaging.
Motorola ColorNotes is fueling increases in network traffic and subscriber
growth helping to drive revenue and validating subscribers' desire for new
feature-rich applications."

"Users are looking for new ways to personalize their mobile devices and
customize how they communicate with others. Motorola ColorNotes does that by
enabling subscribers to create and deliver a colorful, fun and completely
unique message," said Sri Kannankote, Motorola's corporate vice president,
Network Services and Applications Management. "Similar to applying
personalization to ringtones, Motorola ColorNotes takes that idea to another
level with messaging. Motorola ColorNotes helps operators stimulate growth in
messaging services by leveraging traditional voice and SMS."

Motorola ColorNotes is part of Motorola's robust suite of services and
supports the company's focus on teaming with mobile network operators (MNOs)
and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) to bring new and exciting
applications to subscribers, transforming the way users' communicate with
their wireless devices. The Motorola ColorNotes Service also opens new revenue
opportunities and channels of distribution for content providers.

Motorola ColorNotes has already received industry acclaim, winning the
2005 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award for the Most Innovative Application of
Music/Audio. The award, given on Sept. 13 at the 10th annual 3G CDMA Americas
Congress in Miami, recognizes developers who leverage 3G CDMA capabilities to
offer unique applications to the consumer market. The Americas Congress shares
information on the leading topics in 3G business today with 1,500 attendees
from more than 30 countries, including leading wireless operators, technology
companies, content providers, and investors.
